| How do I undo or fix what I did to my wireless router | | Everyone in my house was getting wireless internet except me. I read that
my laptop has internal wireless card.o I tried installing the router CD. At one point it said do something or hold the reset button for ten seconds. I did that. During the process, it said hook the ethernet cord from one of the numbered ports to the ethernet port on your computer. The ethernet port on my computer doesn't work so I stopped. But now no one can get wireless internet. There is a person here who has x box. we tried some things. unhooking the modem for ten seconds, the router for thirty seconds. I tried even longer times. On the x box screen it shows it's receiving the signal and it is strong but it's not picking up the internet. It had some points on what to do if you can't get wireless. It looks like it has to do with the dns. Probably when I hit the reset button.
| | Hihihihi I am mylotting in my bedroom!! My wireless router has been installed! | | [em]happy[/em]Yeah, I know this is nothing new to everyone here, to mylot in their bedrooms but this is something great for me cause finally my brother and I have installed a wireless router. Though there is only one computer in the house and that is my laptop I installed a wireless router cause I wanted to cut down on the use of electricity. Working on my laptop the whole day inside the house I think uses much electricity cause I still need to turn on the lights and the electric fan cause its hot. I figured if I can use a wireless router, I can work on my online earnings outside the house at the garage where I don’t need to turn on a light and an electric fan cause it’s already breezy so, for this month, I ‘m going to observe if the electric bills will lessen.[em]thumbup[/em]I hope my idea of cutting down the use of electricity is right.[em]whistle[/em] | |

| Secure your Wireless Router.. | | As you know everything these days is wireless. But, rarely do we care how we connect, instead often just get online. A lot of wireless routers that are available offer very useful features that you probably didn’t know about. Chances are if you’ve never accessed your router’s settings, you are just running the defaults which means your neighbors or anyone who drives by could potentially access your data or perform a criminal act that points to you. However, there are times when it’s OK to take the shields down and let people leech off your network. For that reason, you may want to periodically check who is accessing it. Check 5 easy steps to Secure your Wireless Router @:http://ravikanthl.wordpress.com/2009/09/13/thinking-of-how-to-secure-your-wireless-router/ | |
| | wireless router | | Hey guys.....I need your expert opinion regarding how to tell whose connected to your wireless router at home or in the office. We have one in the office and the brand is D-LINK 524 model. Recently the output signal had become low so it attracted my attention about it but not to the point of going crazy about it.
So the bottom line is do i have to check my router configuration or how do I go about it? We don't assigned a password since it is also shared by other personnel in the office.
Any kind of suggestion or idea would suffice my question....have a nice day ahead!

| Connecting Wireless Router to Wired Router | | I have a huge task at hand.
A computer running XP Home.
Currently it is connected with a wired router to high speed ADSL.
The task is to set up a wireless router, running out from the wired router.
So far, I know that I can simply clone the mac address from the wired router to the wireless router so to eliminate having to call the ISP to register yet another mac address.
Question:
Is this the WAN or LAN mac address I will be cloning?
There is nothing else on the network but the one computer.
They just want it to be wireless.
Second question is setting up a secure connection.
I understand that WEP is the way to go?
How to I make an encrypted pass phrase?
Both routers are Linksys.
Any and all explanations would be very much appreciated.
| | Do you use wireless router? | | I use wireless router at home because it's much more convenient. Now I have four laptops at home and therefore it's better to use the wireless router. At least I can use my laptop anywhere at home. | |
|
| Does your wireless router set a password? | | We use wireless router so that we can connect the internet anywhere we like at home. It's very convenient. And we set a password to it. In the past we suddenly found that our neighbor forgot to set the password and we were able to take advantage of another internet. But later our neighbor set a password. Perhaps he found that his internet speed was slower:) But I am sure many people don't set the password for their wireless router. People are lazy to do so. | |
